Description
Beautiful hand beaded earrings inspired by the Alaska Native Tlingit culture. Dentalium with black spinel and red Czech beads. Perfect for any occasion with eye dazzling sparkles as the light hits them. These are one of my favorite designs. The gems cascade like water droplets over the dentalium shells. Each pair of earrings are carefully crafted and hand beaded. Beautiful, modern tribal earring design. Hypoallergenic ear hooks are used for those with sensitive ears. Tiny size 15 seed beads, of a coordinating color, are paired with the gem stones. Each dentalium is carefully chosen for quality, size and finish. Then, I trim and sand the shells for uniformity. Dentalium shells are delicate by nature, so silicone is used in the interior of the shell to improve durability.
Dentalium has been traditionally used by the Tlingit Alaska Native people for decoration of garments and jewelry. The number of dentalium displayed denoted the social and economic status in the tribe. These shells are from a kind of sea mollusk and were traditionally gathered from along the Pacific Northwest Coastal areas, though found in many Oceans 🌊 of the Northern Hemisphere. Each Shell is unique.😊 Variations of size, shade and formation make each pair unique and special. Alaska Native handmade.
